Keys to Berry Pots

The plantation of berries such as blueberries and raspberries requires specific planting material for production to succeed. Growing berries in pots has great advantages over growing them in soil:

  • The limiting factor of unsuitable soils for berry plantation is eliminated.
  • Increases planting density.
  • It accelerates the growth of the plant and with greater size, it allows to advance and increase production.
  • Homogeneity in production.
  • Isolated plant supports that favor disease and pest control.
  • I save between 40%-50% of water when planting in pots and coconut fiber substrate, compared to soil.
  • Optimum drainage that avoids waterlogging of the plant and promotes root air flow.

It is advisable to opt for pots for the plantation of berries that comply with the following characteristics. All Alber pots for berry plantation include them:

Raised legs

It is essential that the plantation of this fruit tree is carried out in an elevated position to avoid the proliferation of diseases caused by fungi or pests. This will also aerate the roots and the substrate.

Resistance

The pots are exposed to high temperatures, humidity and continuous exposure to the sun, so it is important to opt for containers that are resistant to environmental conditions and that can also be used for several plantation seasons.

Drainage

Berries are very sensitive to humidity so to avoid waterlogging or root rot we must have pots with drainage adapted to these needs. For this reason we created an innovative element, the Drain Grille, an interior elevator that adapts to the diameter of each model. By adding this element we get a double height bottom that raises the plant 3 cm off the ground to facilitate water drainage and root air flow.

Anti-spyralization systems

The spiralization of the plant’s root system means that the root system develops by curling in on itself, which can affect the correct development of the plant.

Our MCF, CVX and CFX berry pots collections cover all these needs and are available in various sizes. In addition, they are made from 100% recycled plastic and are 100% recyclable.
